Vienna (German: Wien) is the capital of Austria, and also one of Austria's nine federal states (Bundesland Wien). With a population of about 1.7 million, Vienna is the largest city and the cultural and political centre of Austria. Situated on both sides of the river Danube, Vienna is 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Austrian border. In 2001, the city centre of Vienna was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Vienna lies in the very east of Austria and is close to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

Vienna is composed in 23 districts which all have their own names: 1st Innere Stadt (city centre), 2nd Leopoldstadt, 3rd Landstraße, 4th Wieden, 5th Margareten, 6th Mariahilf, 7th Neubau, 8th Josefstadt, 9th Alsergrund, 10th Favoriten, 11th Simmering, 12th Meidling, 13th Hietzing, 14th Penzing, 15th Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, 16th Ottakring, 17th Hernals, 18th Währing, 19th Döbling, 20th Brigittenau, 21th Floridsdorf, 22th Donaustadt and 23th Liesing.

Imperial Palace (Hofburg) or Hofburg Imperial Palace, once served as the residence of the powerful Hapsburg emperors and today is home to several museums.

Schönbrunn Palace (Schloss Schönbrunn) - The palace and gardens illustrate the tastes, interests and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.

St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom), situated at the heart of Vienna, in the Stephansplatz, seat of the Archbishop of Vienna, Christoph Cardinal Schönborn.

Approximately 86 kilometers northeast of the city of Beirut (بيروت) in eastern Lebanon (لبنان) stands the temple complex of Baalbek (بعلبك), atop a high point in the fertile Bekaa valley (Beqaa Valley - سهل البقاع).

Baalbek is the name of an archeological site in Lebanon. In Roman times it was known as Heliopolis or City of the Sun, it was one of the largest sanctuaries in the Empire.
